My Dear Friend of Democracy,
I travelled over the Mala Rijeka Viaduct this week. It is the highest train bridge in Europe, 200 metres above the Mala Rijeka River and located some 20 km north of Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital.
The bridge was built from 1969 to 1973, and for me, it is a symbol of what people are capable of creating in times of peace – and, conversely, what could be destroyed in times of war.
See you in Europe,
Johannes
