My Dear Friend of Democracy,
Perhaps no other city in the world has experienced as much violence as Belgrade. As a strategic location, the city was battled over in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times.
There is a way that the future will look different.
The way of democracy.
Democracies don't wage war. At least not against each other. At least almost. Because people don't want war. Therefore, their leaders don't have the incentive to incite one.
So, people of Belgrade: Your country, Serbia, is on a slippery road. If you want history not to repeat itself, then you'd better fight for democracy.
See you in Europe,
Johannes
