Salute,
Can you photograph democracy? Since I am an (accidental) photographer (have a look at my photoblog here), I want to take on this challenge. And I will present the results here on How To Save Democracy occasionally (more precisely, whenever I don't find time to write;-)).
But how do you photograph democracy? My approach: Making the results of democracy visible — diversity, freedom, successes, problems. We’ll see.
The simple approach to photographing democracy is to photograph institutions of democracy.
I'm starting with that today. Above, you can see the so-called "Reichstagskuppel" ("Reichstag dome") in Berlin. It is part of the Reichstag, the seat of the German Bundestag.
The large glass dome at the very top of the Reichstag has a 360° view of the surrounding Berlin cityscape. The debating chamber of the parliament is below the dome, and natural light from above radiates down to the parliament floor (here is more about the dome).
I took the photo from the visitors' gallery in the plenary hall.
Do you like it?
See you,
Johannes Eber
