My Dear Friend of Democracy,
Yesterday, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government ended in Germany.
A few weeks ago, a coalition party left the government, which resulted in the government losing its majority in parliament. Therefore, the government called for new elections.
The new government (the election will take place on 23 February 2025) will most likely not be the old one. So there will be a change of power. Are the old rulers trying to cling to power? No. Are they trying to manipulate the election with tricks and deception? No. Should violence be expected? Absolutely not.
✊ The Germans can count themselves lucky. I hope most people in my country appreciate that. I hope most people want and work to keep it that way.
See you in Europe,
Johannes

I live in Sweden and now I look to Germany and France for leadership, as a citizen in the European Union. This feels really good!
