My Dear Friend of Democracy,
The other day, I stood in line at a bakery for a croissant.
There were five people in front of me. I got a bit in a bad mood because I had to wait for a single croissant.
How stupid of me.
I didn't have to grow grain or grind it. I didn't have to have a stable with a cow, milk it, make butter. I didn't have to mine salt. I didn't have to cut sugar beets.
I didn't even have to bake the croissant myself.
I only had to stand in the warmth for five minutes, safe and free, to then hold what had been created by so many hands.
✊ I would have been happier in that line. Next time I will.
See you in Europe,
Johannes
