I wish the rich were also paying the same taxes as the middle class. The poor don't earn enough to pay high taxes, and the rich have ways to avoid them. Only the middle class gets crushed!

Perhaps your assessment is not entirely correct. At least as far as income tax in Germany is concerned. The richest tenth of the population pays more than 50 percent of income tax. > https://www.iwkoeln.de/presse/pressemitteilungen/martin-beznoska-reiche-tragen-den-loewenanteil.html#:~:text=So%20trägt%20das%20reichste%20Zehntel,Solidaritätszuschlag%20457.000%20Euro%20Steuern%20zahlen.

Maybe we are referring to different definitions of "rich." I didn’t mean people earning over €100k who are considered among the top 10% of earners (though I can’t recall the exact threshold, it was less than €100k I believe).

What I meant are those who are not employees (as it’s harder for employees to hide their earnings) but rather individuals who own businesses and operate companies offshore. I knew a person who hid their business earnings in Dubai and spent the money while traveling or buying expensive watches!
