Dear Friends of Democracy,
I guess we all can‘t stand it when those who benefit from democracy don't give a damn about it. But it's particularly bitter for Germans. Because in our country, almost a hundred years ago, the abolition of democracy with the means of democracy by the party NSDAP meant the beginning of the end for millions of lives in Europe. Adolf Hitler became a dictator because democracy was weak. Because there were too few Democrats.
That brings us to today's story.
Again, enemies of democracy are sitting in democratically elected parliaments in Germany. Two of them are Andreas Jurca and Elena Roon. They are members of the Bavarian state parliament and the partly right-wing extremist party Alternative for Germany, AfD.
Recently, both were on RT (until 2009: Russia Today), the foreign television program founded and financed by the Russian state. There, they expressed how wonderfully the presidential election in Russia had gone (see video above). In addition, Elena Roon had previously reported on-site as an "election observer" and had praised what was not to praise.
How To Save Democracy: Pretending Putin's dictatorship is a democracy might not win unanimous approval among potential AfD voters. Not everyone who thinks the AfD is good thinks dictatorship is good as well. AfD politicians' love for Putin's Russia could scare away potential AfD voters. So, it might be worth bringing this topic to the attention of potential AfD voters, especially those who are becoming critical of the AfD's increasing radicalization. We can tell them that supporting the Russian dictator is unpatriotic.
See you in democracy 💛,
Johannes Eber
