My Dear Friend of Democracy,
I recently visited an American military cemetery in Epinal, France. 5,255 servicemen and women who died in World War II are buried there. That is a large number, and yet only a small part of the total number of US soldiers killed in that most horrible war ever, namely 400,000 Americans who died fighting the Nazis of my country Germany. They fought to protect democracy and their nation. They did not fight so that people of their country would one day feel the need to adorn themselves with the symbols of these Nazis. They certainly didn't.
See you in Democracy,
Johannes
