What if Putin and Trump agree?

My Dear Friend of Democracy,

As is well known, Putin considers the break-up of the Soviet Union after 1990, i.e. the abandonment of territories and influence, to be a terrible mistake.

It is also well known that Putin and Trump want to meet soon. The future of Ukraine will be at stake.

Among other things.

Imagine if the two of them agree in the coming years. That Trump will grant Putin the sphere of influence of the former Soviet Union.

Unimaginable?

We should increasingly think about the unimaginable.

Many Eastern European states would then become even more of a focus of Russia's aspirations to become a great power again.

Even Germany. After all, the "Iron Curtain" ran right through our country.

So what if the unimaginable became imaginable? And what if Europe lacked military credibility in such a situation? What if Russia could not be sure that attacks on other European states would not be a good idea? Because NATO is not a competitive alliance without the USA.

What would happen then? And above all, what does that mean for the present?

✊ Surely, Europe needs to become capable of defending itself. Sooner rather than later. To be more precise, we should start today.
